  • Welcome!

  • Being the parent of a child with special needs can be overwhelming and challenging at times. We are here to offer you the support and information you will need to help your child reach their fullest potential. It really takes the community (other parents, teachers, school administrators) to accomplish this.

Our group consists of parents with children with special educational needs, and members of the Burlington Township community. In 2004, TRUST was created by parents and administrators to meet the state mandate that each Board of Education have a special education parent advisory group to provide input on issues affecting students with special needs. Since its inception the group has:

* Provided school administrators feedback on issues concerning students with special needs

* Provided parent workshops in the areas of Individualized Education Plan (IEP), Special Education Law, and Stress Management

* Organized its 6th Annual Special Needs Awareness Walk for over 300 participants

* Granted "Teacher Wishes" and provided school supplies, equipment for therapy, and other items to improve the educational experience of our students

* Recently purchased several IPads for students to use as assistive technology

All school districts in New Jersey are required to "ensure that a special education parent advisory group is in place in the district to provide input to the district on issues concerning students with disabilities" (N.J.A.C. 6A:14-1.2h).
